After my granddad died of cancer in 2001, I wanted to help the people who helped him and supported our family. I started raising money by donating my toys to raffles and tombolas. At an open night at my dad’s shop, he was unveiling new motorbikes and I made £360 when my dad donated prizes. I wrote letters to big companies and factories and got lots of donations and gift vouchers. Newcastle United football team gave me £100 and goalkeeper Shay Given presented a pair of gloves to auction. Cricketer Steve Harrison has given me a signed shirt as well.
