The event was really successful, raising £300 for my local Macmillan appeal, to fund a Macmillan nurse and a Macmillan physiotherapist, who both help cancer patients in their own homes in the Tynedale area, and also fund the conversion of rooms in local community hospitals to provide a special bedroom suite in each hospital to care for very sick cancer patients. To make it more interesting for people taking part, I asked Helen May, Macmillan's fundraising manager for Northumberland, to come along and be a judge to pick out the best hands.
