Four years ago, my brother Matt was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was just 18.

His treatment was successful, but the experience still affects me and I still think about it. It was hard to come to terms with what it actually meant at the time, and I wish I’d had someone to talk to about it then.

My mum and dad had each other, and my brother had his girlfriend and she had him, and it was like, ‘Well who’s Lauren got?’ At 16 years old you don’t want to go and tell your parents how you feel.
