A 'balanced diet' means a diet that includes a combination of several different food groups. These food groups include grains and pulses, fresh fruit and veg, meat or meat-free alternatives, dairy products, and fats and oils. Try to eat something from each of these groups every day (except fats, oils and sweets, which should always be eaten sparingly).
