The charity was started in 1911 by a young man called Douglas Macmillan, after his father died of cancer. Douglas was so moved by his father's pain and suffering he wanted to make a difference to the care cancer patients receive.
Macmillan today provides the expert care and emotional support that makes a real difference to people living with cancer - there are currently over 2,500 Macmillan nurses in the UK. They are also at the heart of improving cancer care in the UK.
Find out how they could help you...
Macmillan can help anyone who has been affected by cancer. The main way is through providing Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health professionals, who help people with cancer, and their families and friends, from the moment the cancer is discovered.
As well as providing nurses, doctors and health professionals to help families, Macmillan does a lot more. Read on to find out what else they do.
Macmillan made this site because lots of young people want to know more about cancer. Cancer isn't something that's only relevant to older people, it affects people like you too.
